| When Pentalog launched
its free chat room in September, nobody among
our colleagues believed that this means of communication
could bring new customers.
They were wrong! After two months only and despite
some difficulties at the beginning, Penta-Chat!
brought two new contracts with new customers,
who had chosen the chat room to contact us.
What does that mean?
Was it only chance, for these customers would
have contacted use anyway or does the chat room
really bring new business opportunities ?
After some discussions with the visitors, it appeared
that Penta-Chat! aroused their curiosity and that
they had been immediately enthusiastic about the
advantages offered by online anonymity (no phone
number or email address required). Then it is
Pentalog’s chatmen who managed to seduce
them! (well done Eric and Aymeric).
One of the these two new customers joined the
chat room at 11 p.m., a time when you cannot reach
anybody by phone in a company. A busy and lucky
employee of Pentalog’s was still at his
workstation and had a chat with him... bingo !
In terms of figures, those two contracts account
for 80 000 €, a pretty sum of money for a
tool that took less that 5 000 € to be developed.
This shows again the excellence of the Cluetrain
Manifesto’s lessons and confirms that the
"business as usual" era will soon come
to an end.
Pentalog High Tech will go on with this experience
and is already working on improvements for this
new means of communication.
